Here's a highlight of local, festive events being held for people in Reading during december:

Carols by Candlelight, the annual fundraising event for homeless charity Launchpad Reading

Free Christmas Social for Over 50's (with support from Age UK Berkshire, Reading Borough Council, The Oracle shopping centre, St George’s Church and Reading Dementia Friendly Community)
Friday 6 December, 1pm-3.30pm, St George’s Church Tilehurst

Reading Mencap Christmas Disco
Friday 6 December, 7.30pm-10.30pm, South Reading Leisure Centre

Gospel Carol Concert (Organised by Reading Refugee Support Group with BBC Songs of Praise Gospel Choir of the Year, Reading Community Gospel Choir)
Saturday 7 December, 5.30pm-7.30pm, Reading Minster in the Town Centre

Older People’s Working Group (including a Children’s Choir and a talk on The History of Panto)
Friday 13 December, 2pm, Council Chamber, Civic Offices, Town Centre

All Night Café Shelter, run by charity New Beginnings, for people who are homeless or in need
Will open for the whole month of December, including Christmas Day, using a grant from the government’s Cold Weather fund. At the alcohol-free Queen’s Arms pub in Great Knollys Street. Volunteers are needed to help support the extra hours.
