Young people in Reading can now get help with their mental and emotional wellbeing through a new digital service called Kooth.

The service is being funded jointly by the NHS and councils in Reading, Wokingham and West Berkshire.

It’s available for 11-18 year-old years, seven days a week, from 12 midday to 10pm week nights and from 6pm-10pm on Saturdays and Sundays. As well as the counselling (which is accredited by The British Association of Psychotherapy and Counselling), Kooth also offers moderated forums and self-help articles.

You don’t need a referral to use Kooth and you can sign in anonymously. The service aims to reduce waiting times for young people seeking help, remove stigma around mental health and should integrate with face-to-face local services as well.
