The blood test clinic has re-opened at the Royal Berkshire Hospital after being temporarily shut during the first wave of the coronavirus pandemic.

Based in the South Block of the hospital, the clinic is now by appointment only rather than turn up and wait as before. It gives local people an alternative option if their GP surgery doesn't offer blood testing or they need it done sooner. Some types of blood tests can also only be done at the hospital.

People can book online from the hospital's website or by phone.

Janet Lippett, the hospital's chief medical officer said: “This new appointment based system will help improve services for all our patients, reducing waiting times and ensure safe social distancing in our patient areas.”

One Reading resident who has used the service told Healthwatch Reading that it was "very quick, I was in and out, no waiting around and I felt safe".
