Our link-up with Kenyan association on vaccines

We have been continuing with our efforts to facilitate community conversations about Covid vaccination.

We were pleased to work with Bernice Boore (pictured, above) from the Reading Kenyan Association to host a Zoom discussion on Covid vaccinations in March.

Bernice, who is also a lead nurse at Royal Berkshire Hospital, wanted to give people a chance to ask questions about vaccines and the public health effort to protect the population.

We helped to arrange the session, which featured guest speakers Jessica Acquah, a biomedical scientist, and Meradin Peachey, director of public health for Berkshire West.

Everyone involved gave up some of the afternoon of Mother's Day on Sunday March 14, to contribute. The Zoom session heard a brief history of vaccinations, going back to the world's first (smallpox), a description of what immunisation does to the body, and then discussions about the Covid vaccine's development and safety.
