Have your say in a public consultation.

Do you think care homes for older people should only employ staff who have had a Covid-19 vaccination?

Now is the chance for people living in care homes, their relatives and any other member of the public to give their opinion in a consultation being run by the Department of Health and Social Care.

How to take part

Announcing the consultation on 14 April 2021, the department said high vaccination rates of staff and residents were an ‘essential public health intervention” and “there are still a high number of older adult care homes which do not have the level of protection needed to reduce the risk of outbreak”.

Legislation would need to be changed to make vaccines mandatory for all staff except for those who have a medical exemption.
